Welcome to Reception!
Spring 2
New Blog Every Friday!
We have loved reading the story, 'Click, Clack, Moo... Cows That Type'.
You can watch it at home!
Some additional activities to go with this story are saved in the files at the bottom of the page.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2022...
We have been talking about the books that we love. We have shared the books with our class and we are making our own wooden spoon characters!
In Reception we have three members of staff.
Mrs Isherwood is the teacher and Mrs Bromley and Mrs Wright are the teaching assistants (TAs).
Here is what we look like!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Isherwood: katie.isherwood@britannia.lancs.sch.uk
In Reception we love to learn through playing and exploring. We are active learners and like to be 'hands on'! We do lots of reading, writing, maths, being creative and using our imaginations.
READING AT HOME -
At Britannia CP School we follow the Read, Write, Inc phonics scheme. All children are now being sent home with either a ditty sheet or Red level books.
IIt is vital that you read with your child at home at least 3 times a week. This greatly improves their vocabulary, imagination and later one their fluency. It aids them with their understanding of what they have read and gives them the skills to infer what may be happening and why. If you are experiencing any problems with reading at home please let me know as we have lots of ways which we can support you all.
Thank you to all that attended the Phonics Information for Parents Meeting - I hope that it was helpful. If you didn't manage to see it do not worry! I have attached a copy of the video on the links at the bottom of this page. Please excuse me and Mrs Bromley trying to figure out Zoom at the beginning... it has been a while!
I have also attached a Parents FAQ which answers lots of questions and gives links to the Read Write Inc. parent videos.
This half term we are learning:
Journeys
PSH/RSE
Mental Health and Wellbeing - we are dedicated to ensuring that all children in our care are made to feel safe, wanted, cared about and valued. We work with the children to help them find strategies to develop their sense of wellbeing as well as discuss problems. We come up with solutions to how we can begin to try to solve our own problems.
