If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Isherwood: katie.isherwood@britannia.lancs.sch.uk

In Reception we love to learn through playing and exploring. We are active learners and like to be 'hands on'! We do lots of reading, writing, maths, being creative and using our imaginations.

READING AT HOME -

At Britannia CP School we follow the Read, Write, Inc phonics scheme. All children are now being sent home with either a ditty sheet or Red level books.

Read Write Inc. - Christ Church Hanham Primary School

IIt is vital that you read with your child at home at least 3 times a week. This greatly improves their vocabulary, imagination and later one their fluency. It aids them with their understanding of what they have read and gives them the skills to infer what may be happening and why. If you are experiencing any problems with reading at home please let me know as we have lots of ways which we can support you all.

Thank you to all that attended the Phonics Information for Parents Meeting - I hope that it was helpful. If you didn't manage to see it do not worry! I have attached a copy of the video on the links at the bottom of this page. Please excuse me and Mrs Bromley trying to figure out Zoom at the beginning... it has been a while!

I have also attached a Parents FAQ which answers lots of questions and gives links to the Read Write Inc. parent videos.

Welcome back!

All of the EYFS staff have missed you! Thank you for all of the lovely gifts and presents which you gave to us. We really are very grateful.

I will be updating the school website this week with a new Knowledge Organiser for this half term as well as a new PSHE newsletter.

As per the message sent today - please send your child to school with a book which is special to them for part of our work in RE. Please ensure that these books are named.

Any questions, just send me an email!

PSH/RSE

Mental Health and Wellbeing - we are dedicated to ensuring that all children in our care are made to feel safe, wanted, cared about and valued. We work with the children to help them find strategies to develop their sense of wellbeing as well as discuss problems. We come up with solutions to how we can begin to try to solve our own problems. Information can be found at: https://www.annafreud.org/early-years/early-years-in-mind/common-difficulties/
