Remaining time throughout the day should be filled with the other learning on the planning. For example: physical development, communication and language, RE, creative/art, etc. All of these are on the planning sheets.

IMPORTANT

PLEASE ENSURE THAT WHEN YOU JOIN A GOOGLE CLASSROOM LESSON THAT YOU ARE MUTED. IT IS VERY DISRUPTIVE TO HAVE BACKGROUND NOISE WHEN WE ARE TRYING TO TEACH. IT ALSO MAKES IT HARD FOR OTHER CHILDREN TO CONENTRATE. PLEASE DISCUSS WITH YOUR CHILD THAT THEY SHOULD NOT BE TEMPTED TO MESS WITH THE CONTROL BUTTONS WHEN ON A LESSON.

In order to access a range of Read Write Inc. phonics books please log on to Oxford Owl (link and details below). Here you will be able to access some reading books which are appropriate for your child. I will send a personal text message as soon as I can to advise you on which colour book your child should be accessing. These books should be read more than once so that your child can increase their fluency and understanding. We recommend youread the book 3 times in a weekand then ask your child comprehension questions after the third read. These questions will be on the last page of the book.

Please note that there are limited books available at the moment. This isn’t something we can control as a school, unfortunately. Once we have exhausted the RWI books available I will set some alternative books.

Which book should I read with my child?

If you have your phonics session at 1:10pm with Mrs Isherwood - please access the sound blending books which look like this:

If you have your phonics session at either 1:30pm or 2pm with Mrs Bromley - please access the 10 Ditty Sheets which look like this:  (I have more of these available on my personal laptop so once you have read them I can set some more)

If you access the morning phonics session at 9am with Mrs Isherwood please access the green books which look like this:

Please let me know when you have done these and your child is fluent so that I can tell you which title to access next.
