Welcome
Welcome to Year 1!
Your teachers are Mrs Hill and Mrs Pacey and we have two amazing teaching assistants called Mrs Wright and Miss Stanton!
In Year 1 we work very hard and learn about lots of exciting things.
Below is our yearly overview so you can see what types of things we will be exploring this year.
Autumn Term
This half term our curriculum subjects will include Science, R.E, History, PSHE and Art. We will begin the term learning about The Great Fire of London. In R.E our key question will be ‘Why do Christians say that God is a Father?’ Our Art learning will be focused on Picasso and the portraits he created. In Science we will be learning about Animals Including Humans. Our PSHE will be all about the different relationships we have and how these may be similar and different.
In English we will be basing our learning around the story of Harry the Happy Mouse. If you have any books about mice at home, please feel free to send them in for your child to share at storytime.
In Maths we will be covering numbers to 10, number bond and addition and subtraction within 10.
P.E
P.E days are Tuesday and Wednesday. On these days your child will need to come into school wearing their P.E kit. They need black shorts/tracksuit pants and a white t-shirt or our school P.E kit. Tuesday and Wednesday are the only days where trainers/pumps should be worn. On all other days, your child must be wearing black school shoes, not trainers. If your child wears earrings, please ensure these are removed for P.E days or send plasters if they are unable to be removed.
Milk, fruit and toast
Toast is available for break times. If you wish for your child to have toast, please pay on parent pay. If your child does not have toast please send them in with a piece of fruit.
Milk is available for afternoon snack time and needs to be paid for using 'Cool Milk'. Please contact the school office for further information on this. In the afternoon, we also have a piece of fruit which is provided by school.
Water bottles
Please send your child in to school with a named water bottle for them to drink throughout the day. This must contain water and not juice. Juice can be in lunchtime bottles. Water bottles are kept at the back of our classroom and can be accessed all day.
Contact
Non urgent emails and messages through class dojo will be responded to but we may take 5-7 days. When emailing please copy both teachers in for consistency.
All urgent messages need to be sent to the office.
