Art and Design
At Britannia we follow the Lancashire scheme of work. We teach all our art and design lessons in block units to allow the children to become fully immersed in their learning and the units they are studying. Please see below for our policy, overview and progression documents. To promote a love of art and design in our school, we have our very own art gallery. Each half-term, children’s artwork is selected by their teachers whilst members of staff vote for a Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 winner. Their artwork is printed on a canvas and displayed in our gallery with a special plaque to celebrate their work.
Each Year the children in school create an Art Gallery and the parents have the opportunity to purchase their child’s art work on display. We even had classical music and vol-au-vents. Some of this Lowry inspired art work is now on display in our Britannia Art Gallery.
