Art and Design
At Britannia we teach all our art and design lessons in block units to allow the children to become fully immersed in their learning and the units they are studying. Please see below for our policy, overview and progression documents. To promote a love of art and design in our school, we have our very own art gallery. Each half-term, children’s artwork is selected by their teachers whilst members of staff vote for a Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 winner. Their artwork is printed on a canvas and displayed in our gallery with a special plaque to celebrate their work. See below for the latest winners of our artist of the term award. This work will join the rest of the wonderful pieces in our school gallery.
Each Year the children in school create an Art Gallery and the parents have the opportunity to purchase their child’s art work on display. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our children's incredible work.
Last year, we worked with clay artist, Andrew Hill, to create some clay pieces of artwork. The children were very excited about being given the chance to take these home and share their incredible creations with their families. See below for some photos of Year 3's excellent canopic jar clay pieces inspired by their learning on Ancient Egypt.
